Delivering Engaging Copy
Role: Creative Copywriter
After being headhunted internally at Groupon for my writing, I spent the next several years honing my copywriting skills for diverse clients. This training has been fundamental to my success as a conversation designer.
One of the many aspects that make conversation design interesting is that everyone has a different background. Each person offers a unique perspective on creating user journeys, and I firmly believe that my copywriting experience gives me an edge in an industry that is very tech and dev-heavy.
I have been trained to write in a company’s specified tone of voice and tell a story that appeals to customers. Whether selling items at Groupon or creating compelling travel copy for Fleetway’s website and brochures, it’s all about making the story relevant to the customer. I am also a great believer in learning from customer data and improving through testing, which I fully explored while helping Google create the Danish persona for the Google Assistant, using tools and dashboards to see real-time feedback.
At Entain, I created engaging social media copy, HTML banners, and sports-related newsletter content, even during COVID when most sports were suspended. I also rewrote the SEO pages for every betting market on bwin’s website and wrote gaming copy for brands such as Ladbrokes, Coral, Foxy Bingo, and Gala. My background as a copywriter is something that I value highly and it continues to inform my work as a conversation designer. Knowing how to capture a company's tone of voice, understanding what resonates with customers, and being able to test and apply data are all cornerstones of my success in this field.
